E.P. Carrillo Short Run 2013 Robusto

I love EP Carrillo smokes, and this one was an exceptional example.

Up front, it wasn't the prettiest stick ever. Firmly packed, but the wrapper was a bit splotchy and odd looking. Clipping the cap, the draw was perfect, just a tad snug, but not much flavor pre-light.

Performance wise, this thing was a champ. Thick clouds of white smoke lingered, and the ash held up to two inches at a time. The burn line was perfectly sharp, revealing a perfect little cone with each tap of the ash.

Flavor profile was right in my wheelhouse. It started with some pepper and leather, a bit stronger than I expected, and I am thinking that this is a tasty cigar. Moving towards the middle third, and the profile shifts to earth, leather, and a bready note, with the pepper on the retrolhale, but smooth. It just builds to the final third, and I am in love with this smoke. The pepper moves back to the forefront, but more of a dried red pepper that is giving me a tingle on my lips and in my sinuses. With an inch left, I am trying to find a good deal on stocking up on more of these.

This was just a fantastic cigar, and can be had at decent prices. It was a bit more aggressive than I expected, which I loved. I felt like it started good, and just kept building to great. Just a fantastic hour long smoke.
