Drew Estate's Liga Privada line has produced some of the most sought after cigars in the insurance industry. The Papas Fritas release is a unique one for the line. The cigars are small coming it at 4 1/2 inches in length with a 44 gauge ring. They are packaged in tins containing 4 cigars, and they cost around $25 dollars for the tins of 4. Light up a Papas Fritas, and you some deep earth and dark coffee tastes will great you immediately. As the smoke continues, some soft creamy notes begin to make their way into the profile. It finishes with a mix of that creamy earth flavor and a bitter coffee taste. My biggest complaint about the Papas Fritas is the smoke itself. The Drew Estate brand, and especially the Liga Privada line, deliver a beautiful thick and creamy smoke, that strongly enhances the smoking experience. I did not get that from the Papas Fritas. It is not a bad smoke. It is a tasty quick smoke, though it lasted longer than I expected. It burns slow for its size. The draw was good, and I experienced no construction issues. To me, the Papas Fritas was a watered-down version of a Liga 9. It serves a purpose in the sense that it is a quick smoke, with quality flavor that will remind you of the Liga line. That said, it is exactly that...a reminder. Not a bad smoke, but I did find myself craving more of the Liga experience than it delivered.
